Golden, flaky, and irresistibly cheesy, these Easter Ham and Cheddar Pinwheels are a festive and easy-to-make appetizer that’s perfect for Easter brunch, springtime gatherings, or anytime you crave a little savory joy! With buttery puff pastry, savory ham, sharp cheddar, and a kiss of Dijon, these spirals are crowd-pleasers you’ll make again and again.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: About 1214 pinwheels 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

  • 34 tablespoons Dijon mustard

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 68 slices deli ham (or thinly sliced leftover Easter ham)

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • Optional: chopped parsley or extra shredded cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth creases.

  3. Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the pastry, leaving a ½-inch border.

  4. Layer ham slices over the mustard, then sprinkle cheddar cheese evenly on top.

  5. Roll up the pastry tightly from the long side into a log.

  6. Slice into ½ to ¾ inch rounds with a sharp knife or pizza cutter.

  7. Place pinwheels on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.

  8. Brush tops lightly with beaten egg.

  9. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.

  10. Cool slightly before serving and enjoy every cheesy bite!

Notes

  • Keep your puff pastry cold for the best “puff!”

  • You can swap the cheddar for Swiss, gouda, or your favorite cheese!

  • Assemble the rolls ahead of time and bake fresh when you’re ready.

  • If using leftover Easter ham, just thinly slice it for easy rolling.

  • Freezing Tip: Slice and freeze pinwheels before baking. Bake directly from frozen, adding 5–7 extra minutes.
