Greek Yogurt Bagels: A High-Protein Twist on a Classic Favorite

Say hello to your new favorite homemade bagels! These Greek Yogurt Bagels are a high-protein, no-yeast twist on a classic favorite — soft, chewy, golden brown, and ready in about 30 minutes. Perfect for breakfast, sandwiches, or snacking, they’re easy to make and endlessly customizable!

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 bagels 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2% recommended)

  • 1 cup self-rising flour (plus extra for dusting)

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • Optional toppings: Everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, coarse salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and self-rising flour. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

  • Lightly flour a surface and knead the dough gently for 2–3 minutes until smooth.

  • Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each into a rope, then form into a circle and pinch the ends together.

  • Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the bagels. Sprinkle with your favorite toppings if using.

  • Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  • Let cool slightly before slicing and serving!

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the dough — a gentle hand keeps these bagels tender and chewy.

  • If you don’t have self-rising flour, make your own by mixing 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

  • To freeze: Wrap cooled bagels individually and freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the toaster or microwave.

  • Feel free to double the recipe if you want extras for the week!
