Ingredients
-
1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or 2% recommended)
-
1 cup self-rising flour (plus extra for dusting)
-
1 egg (for egg wash)
-
Optional toppings: Everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, coarse salt
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and self-rising flour. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
-
Lightly flour a surface and knead the dough gently for 2–3 minutes until smooth.
-
Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each into a rope, then form into a circle and pinch the ends together.
-
Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the bagels. Sprinkle with your favorite toppings if using.
-
Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
-
Let cool slightly before slicing and serving!
Notes
-
Don’t overmix the dough — a gentle hand keeps these bagels tender and chewy.
-
If you don’t have self-rising flour, make your own by mixing 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
-
To freeze: Wrap cooled bagels individually and freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat in the toaster or microwave.
-
Feel free to double the recipe if you want extras for the week!
