Homemade Cheesy Breadsticks

Buttery, garlicky, and smothered in melty cheese, these Homemade Cheesy Breadsticks are pure comfort food magic! Perfect for parties, family dinners, or anytime you need an easy, crowd-pleasing appetizer. Anything but boring!!

Ingredients

  • 1 package (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

 

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Stir until dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.

  3. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  5. Punch down the dough, roll it out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick, and transfer to the baking sheet.

  6. Mix melted butter and minced garlic; brush over the dough.

  7. Sprinkle mozzarella, parmesan, and Italian seasoning (if using) evenly on top.

  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and edges are golden.

  9. Slice into breadsticks, garnish with parsley, and serve warm!

Notes

 

  • For quicker prep, you can use store-bought pizza dough!

  • Freshly shredded cheese melts SO much better than pre-shredded!

  • Want a flavor twist? Try adding pepper jack or smoked provolone.

  • Leftovers are rare (trust me!) but if you have some, they reheat beautifully in the oven at 350°F for a few minutes.
