Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary)
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, and thyme. Whisk until well blended.
- Season the marinade with salt and pepper to taste.
- Place the sirloin steak pieces into a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for best flavor.
- After marinating, remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
- Once the oil is hot, add the marinated steak bites in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.
- Sear for 2-3 minutes on one side without moving them, then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes for medium-rare doneness.
- Remove the steak bites from the skillet and cover loosely with aluminum foil to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and pour in the remaining marinade, scraping the bottom to deglaze the pan.
- Bring the marinade to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Place the steak bites on a serving platter and drizzle the thickened balsamic maple sauce over the top.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
- Serve warm, either as an appetizer or main dish alongside your favorite sides.
Notes
- For a more luxurious option, consider using ribeye or tenderloin.
- If short on time, a 30-minute marinade will still add flavor, but aim for at least an hour for best results.
- You can also grill the steak bites instead of pan-searing them.
